Review 1849 - 1948:

In 1849 Christoph Lueders in Goerlitz built the first railed vehicles for wood transportation of the city. 1861 the company was transformed into a corporation for the production of railway rolling stock. 1916-1918 a complete reorganization of the extended plant took place. The company name was modified into Waggon- und Maschinenbau-Aktiengesellschaft Goerlitz - WUMAG -; it became soon well-known and famous. In 1923, the company engaged 5100 employees and workers.
